National Park During a Government Shutdown

Made on the evening of a full-moon in a national park during a government shutdown, this hour-long photograph was made using three motionless points of reference, one-after-another, marking an accumulation of details illuminated by moonlight to suggest a landscape that is depicted but does not exist. This is a practice image; for months, I've been interrogating the difference in making images with a broken camera--how much is about the tool or about the process. —be there, witness, behold, or make. Place is political; parkland is always at threat. The shock-green color was uncontrollable, and stains every exposure, and is caused by water damage.
